Shonka Dukureh, an actress and blues singer who portrayed Big Mama Thornton in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” biopic, died on Thursday in Tennessee, police confirmed. She was 44.
The musician was found dead inside her bedroom in the Nashville apartment she shared with her two children, according to a tweet by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The Tennessean reported that one of Dukureh’s children found her unresponsive before rushing to a neighbor’s home, who then called 911 at approximately 9:30 a.m.
A spokesperson for the MNPD confirmed that the medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death. No foul play is suspected.

A former contestant on the popular survivalist reality TV show “Naked and Afraid” has died, multiple outlets reported Sunday.
Melanie Rauscher “passed away suddenly,” according to her obituary. She was 35 years old.
Police told TMZ she was dogsitting at a home in Prescott, Arizona, where her body was found last Sunday. The medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death, but police told TMZ there were no “obvious” signs of foul play.

YouTube star Kevin Samuels died of hypertension, a Georgia medical examiner concluded. Samuels, 53, died suddenly May 5 after he complained of chest pain and collapsed, authorities said. He was at his apartment and taken to a hospital but could not be resuscitated, they said.
Chief Medical Examiner Karen E. Sullivan’s findings were reported Monday by E! News. “It is my opinion that Kevin Samuels died due to hypertension (high blood pressure), Sullivan wrote in the report dated July 14. The manner of death was ruled natural.

Paul Sorvino, who starred in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas and early seasons of the NBC series Law & Order, died today of natural causes after suffering health issues[*] over the past few years. He was 83. His death was announced by his publicist Roger Neal on behalf of Sorvino’s wife Dee Dee Sorvino, who was at his side when he passed.
“Our hearts are broken,” said Dee Dee Sorvino in a statement. “There will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life, and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage.” Sorvino was the father of Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino.
Paul Anthony Sorvino born April 13, 1939 in Brooklyn and starred in such films as Goodfellas, Nixon, Dick Tracy, The Rocketeer, For the Love of Money, That Championship Season, Reds, A Touch of Class, Oh, God! among many others. On television he starred on Seasons 2 and 3 of Law & Order and on Broadway in That Championship Season.
*Despite those “health issues over the past few years” Sorvino had been working steadily full-time. He had completed one movie (Pursued), had another in post-production (The Ride), was in production of another (My Jurassic Place), and was scheduled to appear in a TV movie (The Chameleon). Former NFL receiver Charles Johnson, who spent two seasons with the Eagles early in the Andy Reid years, has died at the age of 50. CBS 17 in Wake Forest, North Carolina, reported the news on Tuesday evening. Johnson’s cause of death had not yet been released, according to the report.
Johnson, who had been working as an assistant athletic director at Heritage High School in North Carolina, spent nine seasons in the NFL. Johnson was selected in the first round (No. 17) by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1994 out of Colorado.

Sam Bruce the former high school star football player recently died due to a heart attack. The young man was just 24-years-old. A medical examiners report revealed the cause of death was coronary artery disease and was considered a natural death. Nashville, Tenn. — Longtime Nashville broadcaster Mark Howard has passed away. He was found unresponsive at his home on Sunday morning. Howard joined NewsChannel 5 in 1986 after a television stint in Evansville, IN. For the next 20 years, he would be the weekend sports anchor at NewsChannel 5. His booming voice and wry sense of humor caught the attention of viewers but it was his vast sports knowledge that captivated his audience and impressed his colleagues. New Braunfels, Texas, ISD has announced that New Braunfels High School’s girls basketball head coach, Jimmy Keresztury, died after suffering a heart attack on Monday. Keresztury was attending the annual Texas High School Coaches Association & Coaches Education Foundation Coaching School and Convention in San Antonio with athletic personnel from the district when he was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon, NBISD Athletic Director Jim Streety said.
“Jimmy was just an unbelievable man with an infectious personality, and we were so glad to have him coaching our girls basketball team and the girls just took to him immediately,” Streety said. Before taking the position as the Lady Unicorns’ basketball coach two years ago, Keresztury spent time coaching at Canyon High School, where he and his family had attended high school.

Oshkosh, WI – The man who elevated Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual AirVenture convention to a “world-level aviation event” has died on the morning of the event’s opening day. Tom Poberezny, 75, a longtime EAA president and son of EAA founder Paul Poberezny, died around 2 a.m. Monday after a brief illness, said Dick Knapisnki, EAA’s director of communications.
“It’s not lost on us here on EAA staff that it occurred on the opening day of AirVenture, the event that really he moved into prominence as a world-level aviation event,” he said. “This event as it is today would not be what it is without Tom Poberezny.”

Michaels, who died Saturday at 72, created the modern concept of “lukewarmism,” which holds that humans are warming the planet but rejects the notion it will have severe consequences. That idea has become dominant in today’s Republican Party, which rejects significant restrictions on fossil fuels and has ignored the warnings of climate scientists who have said that unabated warming will be devastating for humanity.
Michaels was not a denier but a true skeptic who never stopped questioning scientific research, said Ryan Maue, who was tapped by former President Donald Trump to be NOAA’s chief scientist.

East Lansing, MI – Matthew Hill, the founder of Liquid Web, a web hosting company he started in Greater Lansing, died earlier this month. He died “unexpectedly” on July 13 in West Hollywood, California, according to his obituary. He was 41 and a resident of East Lansing. Hill was a Lansing native and graduate of Holt High School. He was still in high school when he founded Liquid Web in 1997, according to a July 20 post on the company’s Facebook page acknowledging his death. Hill sold the company to Chicago-based investment firm Madison Dearborn Partners in 2015, then stepped down as the company’s CEO.

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. — Lake Superior State University is mourning the loss of men’s hockey equipment manager Wes DeJong Jr., who died unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday, July 16, at the age of 28. The university did not disclose cause of death in its announcement.

Karen Madison Gray died unexpectedly of natural causes on July 12, 2022, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska. She was 52. She was a graduate of Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology with honors. She received her Doctor of Jurisprudence, Law from the Vanderbilt University Law School. Madison also pursued graduate work at the Peabody College of Education at Vanderbilt University.
Her professional accomplishments, many of which met at the intersection of science, law and higher education, were many. Most notably, she served as the Senior Assistant Director, Office of Contract & Research Administration at Vanderbilt University and as Associate Director, PreAward Grants Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs at Emory University before being named the Director of Sponsored Programs Administration at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2019. Madison was a longtime member of the Junior League of Nashville,Tennessee, and devoted herself to animal rescue and welfare in every city she called home.

Berkeley, Calif. – A UC Berkeley professor died last week while hiking Utah, and the tight-knit college community is mourning.
Phillip Geissler’s sudden death was announced in a post by the College of Chemistry Dean Douglas Clark on Friday. “We have been jolted by the news,” said Clark. “Phill was a truly remarkable person–a brilliant researcher and scholar, a phenomenal teacher and mentor, and a dear friend to so many.”
Although the cause of death hasn’t been announced, it coincided with a report by Canyonlands National Park of a missing hiker during record-breaking heat. They said the man was attempting a short hike from Elephant Hill in the Needles District and his body was recovered Tuesday. A warning followed about exercising in extreme heat as the Canyons Area is experiencing temperatures jumping past 100 degrees.
The 48-year-old professor graduated from Cal with a Ph.D. in chemistry in 2000, began assisting and teaching, and worked his way into becoming a full professor in 2012. Many students responded with shock and sadness about the news of his death.

La. Police Officer Dies Unexpectedly after Medical Emergency

The hotter than normal temperatures being experienced by much of the United States just claimed the life of a police officer on the job in Louisiana.
Officer Brian Olliff “passed away Saturday evening from an unexpected heat-related medical event while working in the downtown district,” the Natchitoches Police Department reported. Natchitoches is about 75 miles southeast of Shreveport.
The specifics of Olliff’s death were not revealed, but law enforcement officers are susceptible to potentially fatal heat stroke due to the layers of gear they wear, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Clay County, Ark. – A Piggott police officer who died unexpectedly will be laid to rest later this week. Officer Cody Dale Carter died July 16 in what Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller called a “tragic incident.” He did not elaborate.

Two Houston firefighters “died suddenly” in one week:

Houston, TX – Officials are investigating after two Houston firefighters have suffered heart attacks in the last week.
On Thursday, a 46-year-old Houston firefighter collapsed at the fire station and went into cardiac arrest. Fellow firefighters were able to bring back his pulse. According to Marty Lancton, President of the Houston Professional Firefighters Association, the 46-year-old is now in stable condition at a local hospital intensive care unit.
Last week, 24-year-old HFD firefighter Malcom Willis died suddenly at his home following a heart attack. Willis served with HFD for 19 months. An autopsy report for the 24-year-old hasn’t been released.
According to data reported by the National Institute of Health (NIH), sudden cardiac events account for roughly 45% of firefighter duty-related deaths every year. In addition, the NIH indicate that heat stress is the number one cause of line-of-duty firefighter fatalities.
Lancton tells FOX 26 that the Houston Fire Department is short-staffed. As a result, he says firefighters are working more hours in the heat than they typically would.
“The more you work, the more calls you’re running, the hotter it is, the more stress it puts on your heart and the worse off it is for firefighters and for their health and safety,” said Lancton.

Cecil County, Md. — A 13-year-old Baltimore student died of natural causes during a school field trip in Cecil County on June 1, according to an autopsy.
Deputies responded to NorthBay Adventure Camp for a cardiac arrest. Athumani Brown collapsed on the beach at NorthBay Adventure Camp and was initially treated by camp staff prior to the arrival of paramedics. He was taken to Christiana Care at Union Hospital in Elkton where he died. Baltimore City Schools said Brown, a seventh-grader, attended Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School.

Beloved Hunterdon County, NJ, high school student Anthony Joseph ‘AJ’ Zeoli died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 15. He was 16. Born in Allentown, PA, AJ lived in Sloatsburg, NY, before moving to Union Township about seven years ago, his obituary says.
AJ was an upcoming senior at North Hunterdon Regional High School, where he was known as a class clown who was always able to make his friends laugh. He is also remembered for his polite and well-mannered nature, his memorial says. AJ had many hobbies in life, including skateboarding and snowboarding, nature and hunting, video games, airsoft guns, cooking, and his pet rabbit and dogs. He always stuck up for his own values and what he truly believed in, according to his memorial.

Jersey City, NJ – An IT worker who died playing cricket in Jersey City leaves behind his pregnant wife and 7-year-old daughter, both in India. Abhishek Kumar, who had working as a Java developer at Synechron, an IT development company, collapsed on the field at Lincoln Park on Saturday, July 16, and was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, according to a GoFundMe page. “Doctors from Jersey City Medical Center tried to save him and worked hard for the next several hours but unfortunately, we heard sad news late in the evening on 07/16/2022 that Abhishek is no more with us,” the page reads. Kumar was being remembered as “really-really helpful and very friendly and always came forward to help anyone in need.”

Anthony Spearman, a former state NAACP president and longtime social justice advocate, has died and a friend and attorney is calling for an investigation into the circumstances. The family confirmed Wednesday that Spearman, 71, died Tuesday. Spearman, a former substance abuse counselor and president of the N.C. Council of Churches, served on the Guilford County Board of Elections up until his death. WWNY reports Jayson Lowery, 29, volunteered for the Oxbow and Richville fire departments before he died suddenly from a brain condition. He was laid to rest over the weekend when family members and a friend attending the services died in the crash.
Jayson Lowery’s uncle, Jim Henry, found the wreckage. Jim Henry’s wife and daughter were in the vehicle. He said he could hear his 14-year-old daughter Joy screaming for help. “There was a lot of adrenaline. I just automatically was trying to get people out,” Jim Henry said. He pulled his daughter out of the wreckage and said she is expected to survive.
However, Jim Henry’s wife, Jackie Henry, and her best friend, Lorraine Stevens, died at the hospital. His niece, Desiree Lowery, the wife of Jayson Lowery, was pronounced dead at the scene. “Don’t take life for granted. You never know when it’s gonna end,” Jim Henry said.
The group was on their way to attend Jayson Lowery’s funeral.
“I couldn’t believe this was happening. To have a brother fireman that we’re laying to rest and to respond to a call involving his wife and aunt. You can’t wrap your mind around it,” Richville Fire Chief Corie Farr said.
Jackie and Jim Henry have four daughters. Jayson and Desiree Lowery had three girls. “We have to get the seven of them, the kids, to grieve together and to stick together, and everybody will get through this,” said Virginia Lennox, Jayson Lowery’s mother.
Authorities said the Lowery children would be placed in the care of their aunt, while the crash remains under investigation.

Myra Igo Haley, a longtime Brevard businesswoman and philanthropist, died unexpectedly at her Merritt Island, FL, home over the weekend. She was 63. “She was one of the most successful businesswomen in Brevard County,” said Darcia Jones Francey, who served with Haley on multiple non-profit boards. “She gave to so many causes and helped so many people. She was a true philanthropist, because she never asked for anything in return, no matter what she gave.”
Born in Indiana, Haley moved to Brevard County in 1992 with her family. Her father, Miles D. Igo, purchased undeveloped land in Suntree, owned at that time by the Fairfield Company. He and his daughter incorporated as Suntree Partners. She had a shrewd head for business, and spent much of her career in real estate development. Suntree Partners was responsible for many of the neighborhoods north of Wickham Road along Spyglass Hill Road, as well as multiple Suntree business complexes.

Wexford County, MI, Commissioner Michael Bengelink died unexpectedly Friday at the age of 73. He served several terms as a county commissioner from 1980 to 1982, 1994 to 1998, and 2016 to 2022. An Illinois man is dead after struggling to save his dog’s life during a morning walk, according to police. Officers with the Bethalto, IL, Police Department responded to a call at 10:37 a.m. about a dog attack at a community in neighboring East Alton, Chief Mike Dixon said in a release. Ronald Jones, 64, was walking his dog when a woman walking two dogs of her own crossed paths, according to Dixon. Straining against their leashes, the dogs broke away from the woman, knocking her to the ground as they rushed to attack Jones’ dog.
Jones and the woman scrambled to pull the dogs apart “for several minutes” until Jones suddenly collapsed, the release said. When police arrived, Jones and his dog were sprawled on the ground, motionless. Nearby, the other two dogs were fighting each other while their owner, covered in bites, still struggled to break them up. The responding officer “secured the scene” and attempted to revive Jones by performing CPR and using a defibrillator, Dixon said.
Despite the life-saving efforts, Jones died at the scene. He did not appear to have been injured by the dogs, and his cause of death is under investigation. The woman was taken by ambulance to a hospital in St. Louis, where she was treated for “multiple bites,” according to police. It isn’t clear what became of her two dogs.

Hague, NY — A man drowned and a woman who tried to save him needed to be pulled from Lake George on Sunday, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they were called to the lake near the Rogers Rock State Campground on Lake Shore Drive at 1:31 p.m. to investigate a possible drowning.
Authorities learned a 61-year-old man disappeared under the water after suffering a medical condition while swimming near his boat, deputies said.

Police have identified a man who died on a charter fishing boat Wednesday as Kristopher Tengberg, 42, of Riverton, Utah. The Coast Guard had called police at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday to say the boat was heading to town with CPR in progress on a passenger. The boat, which had been at Salisbury Sound, landed at the Starrigavan boat launch, where Tengberg was found to be deceased, police said. The cause of death was an apparent heart attack, police said. The Texas mother-of-two who vanished three weeks ago after doorbell camera footage filmed her rushing out to work without her cellphone or medication has been found dead in the front passenger seat of her car at a strip mall four miles from her home.
A security guard at a San Antonio strip mall found Christina Lee Powell’s body after noticing a foul odor coming from a car which had been ‘parked in the same location for about a week‘, police told Fox News. It’s unclear where she had been for the entire period of time since disappearing from her house.
The 39-year-old was last seen on her doorbell cam leaving home in San Antonio at 10:34 a.m. on July 5, after calling in to her job as a paralegal to let them know she was running late. She never returned and police launched a search for her three days later.
Powell’s body, which had no obvious signs of trauma, was discovered in her Nissan Rogue at the Huebner Oaks Center – just a 10 minute drive from her home – at around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday night.
A law enforcement source told Fox she was found alone and all the windows of the car were closed. Temperatures in San Antonio hit 100F most days last week.
Family members of Powell told police she had an argument with one of her child’s fathers before she went missing. However, investigators told Fox News that he is cooperating with the investigation and isn’t a person of interest.

Alan A. Stephenson, Jr., 51, of Cass City, MI, formerly of Cadillac, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 17, 2022 in his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Alan’s passions in life were his grandchildren, U of M sports, hunting, coaching and officiating. He had fifteen plus years into coaching basketball, volleyball and softball from the youngest youth levels to the varsity levels. He loved officiating volleyball and umpiring for softball for numerous years.
Alan absolutely loved to golf playing on a league at the Caro Arrowhead Golf Course, in scrambles and fundraisers every chance he got and with his family in his spare time. Thankfully, he got one last round in with his daughter and granddaughter last weekend and this memory will always be cherished. He was a loving husband, son and father. Alan loved deer hunting with his father and brothers and cherished being a “Grampy.” He attended every little league softball and t-ball game he could of his precious granddaughters.

Lauren Goodger is seeking a post-mortem to be carried out on her baby daughter after she died moments after being born. The former TOWIE star is chasing answers for her second baby Lorena’s cause of death after she died suddenly on July 8 following birth.
Lauren and Charles had planned for a natural birth at their Essex home, with help from midwife Tamzin, who had helped with the birth of their previous daughter Larose. When Lauren’s water broke on July 6, initial vitals were normal, however tests the following days while Lauren went into labour could not detect a heartbeat, meaning she was rushed to the hospital.
In the interview, Lauren said: “I went into hospital thinking I would come home with a baby girl, but I came home with nothing. Lorena was a healthy baby and it was a textbook pregnancy…Doctors think her oxygen may have been restricted because she had two knots in her cord, but normally babies can still get enough oxygen despite this.”

Retired Edinburgh professor Richard Ennos says official data for 2021 and 2022 ‘provide very strong evidence for a causal relationship’ between the vaccinations and a huge number of excess deaths in the country, wrote Graham Crawford in an article published by Holding the Line.
Professor Ennos has written to Siobhian Brown MSP, convener of the Scottish government’s covid-19 recovery committee, calling on her to re-open a public inquiry into the deaths which can only be partially explained by the virus.
Earlier this year, the committee investigated the cause of an unprecedented level of excess death recorded in Scotland from week 21 to week 52 of 2021. Numbering 4,819, it was 12% above the average – the worst ever recorded.
Recorded deaths so far in 2022 are heading in the same direction, and Professor Ennos suggests they are now a consequence of the booster jab. In a recent letter to Ms Brown, on July 12, he also expresses his concern that the public inquiry earlier this year into the 2021 excess death figures failed to make any mention of the injections as a potential cause.
He states that of 103 public submissions to the inquiry, more than a third pointed to the jabs as a possible reason for the inflated loss of lives.

Police in Scotland are treating the death of exiled UDA [Ulster Defence Association] member Sam ‘Skelly’ McCrory as “unexplained”. The 57-year-old is believed to have died after suffering a fall close to his home in the Scottish town of Ayr at around 5.45 pm on Sunday. Police say he was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

David Trimble, Northern Ireland’s former First Minister and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, has died aged 77. He was the leader of the Ulster Unionist Party from 1995 until 2005. Mr Trimble was instrumental in the Good Friday Agreement negotiations, making him one of the chief leaders to bring peace to Northern Ireland after the worst of the Troubles. He was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts, alongside John Hume, the former SDLP leader who died in 2020.
In a statement released today, his family said: “It is with great sadness that the family of Lord Trimble announce that he passed away peacefully earlier today following a short illness. Mr Trimble was also an MP in Westminster representing Upper Bann from 1990 until 2005. In 2006 he was made a life peer in the House of Lords.

Tributes have been paid to much-loved Waringstown man Gareth Robinson, whose passing today is the third heartbreaking loss suffered by the popular Co Armagh family this month. Gareth died suddenly at his home at Churchill Park. It comes just 18 days after the death of his uncle, Rowan, at Lisnisky Care Home, on July 2. And just 10 days ago, on July 10, Gareth’s grandmother, Annaleen – Rowan’s mother – also died peacefully at her home at Windsor Close in Waringstown.
They have now been devastated once again with the sudden passing of Gareth. Pre-deceased by his mother, Ella, he is survived and will be sorely missed by dad Hampton, sisters Melissa and Tracey, Tracey’s partner Don, and Shannon, Rhys and Seth, to whom he was a much-loved uncle.

An investigation has been launched after an experienced diver died while swimming off Tyninghame beach on Saturday. The 48-year-old man, from Edinburgh, was at the East Lothian beach with his brother when he got into difficulties. Witnesses said the man, who is understood to have been a commercial diver, had been in the water in a full wet suit. Emergency services were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead. Police said an investigation would be carried out and a report sent to the procurator fiscal.

A man was found dead in woodland in the Skelmersdale area. Police and the ambulance service were called at around 5 pm yesterday (Monday, July 18) to a report of a sudden death. The body of a man had been found in woodland close to Thornbury, in an area known locally as The Tawd. The death is not being treated as suspicious, however, the man has yet to be formally identified and officers want to trace his next of kin.
The man is described as white, with short, grey hair and aged between 55 and 65. He was wearing a black Hugo Boss t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and black Adidas trainers. He was in possession of a black baseball cap and a pair of black sunglasses and was wearing a wedding ring. He was also in possession of a half drunk bottle of BIN 161 white wine, which he may have bought yesterday.

An “adored” and “beloved” man died suddenly after collapsing at home. Spencer James Haizel, who was living in Aigburth, died on January 28 from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome. According to the British Heart Foundation this is when someone dies suddenly and unexpectedly from a cardiac arrest, but the cause of the cardiac arrest cannot be found.
The 31-year-old’s mum, Karen Smith, said her son was a “healthy, fit, young man” and had no prior medical conditions. On the day Spencer died they had visited his favourite restaurant Albert’s Schenke on Hanover Street, Liverpool city centre, and walked round the shops “arm in arm” chatting “like they always did”.
Karen, who lives in Kensington, said by 8 pm that night Spencer had died, despite the best efforts of hospital staff. The 55-year-old is now working with the Oliver King Foundation to raise funds for much needed defibrillators around Liverpool.

Pupils and education bosses have paid tribute to a much-loved head teacher of a Wolverhampton school who has passed away. Mrs Jo Hemmings was praised for her work in improving the performance of Goldthorn Park primary school over the last year.
After joining the school in 2017 as assistant head teacher, Mrs Hemmings quickly rose to the role of head in September 2021, where she was fast to establish the premises as a pupil-focused learning centre, earning praise from Ofsted bosses. Mrs Hemmings died suddenly in June after previously working to improve the school’s Ofsted rating, which she achieved in previous months.

Staff at The Billericay School have paid tribute to Mr Alan Elkins, who died “unexpectedly” following a short illness, aged 54. A UK schoolchild has tragically died suddenly as the school pay tribute. A pupil has died in a “tragic accident”, Outwood Academy Shafton has confirmed.
The school, in Barnsley, says the child died on Monday. The teen was believed to be a year eight pupil, according to reports in the media.
The school wrote: “Following a tragic incident in our community last week, it is with sorrow and grief that we are sharing with you that a Y8 student has sadly died this morning in hospital, surrounded by loved ones. Our thoughts are with family and friends.”

A teenager has died after taking unwell at a property in the Highlands, which police are treating as ‘unexplained’. Emergency services were called to MacLennan Crescent in Inverness at around 7.55 am on Thursday July 21.
Bailey Matheson Munro had become unwell at the property and the 17-year-old was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the cause of death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, however police say there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

Charlotte Ayres died on the morning of Sunday July 10 at the Rock & Bike Fest (RaBF) in South Normanton. The rock festival was held at Carnfield Hall from Thursday, July 7, to Saturday, July 9. A “cheeky and fun-loving” dad died just days after being given the all clear from his cancer diagnosis. At the age of 23, Dean Mollard was diagnosed with testicular cancer, before later being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
From the age of 24 to 33, as the dad-of-three battled the disease, he was in and out of treatment until being given positive news that he was cancer-free on May 12, 2021. But devastatingly, just eight days later, Dean suddenly died following an unexpected rupture of the aortic valve. According to the British Heart Foundation, this will stop blood being pumped around the body.
Dean, from Upton, was playing with his children when he suddenly began experiencing heart problems. He was rushed to hospital where he underwent gruelling 12-hour open heart surgery before being transferred to intensive care.

A popular senior member of staff at an estate agents in Market Harborough has died aged 57. Chris Beeby sadly passed away suddenly on Sunday July 10 surrounded by his family. As a property manager at Andrew Granger & Co on Market Harborough’s High Street, Chris worked in and around the town for the last 35 years. The company said that the well-known father-of-two will be “sorely missed”. Following a “late cancer diagnosis” Chris died within just days at home with his beloved family at his side.

A cyclist has died after collapsing in the scorching heatwave. Emergency services were called to the junction of Roman Road and Keepers Road, following reports of a sudden death on Monday afternoon, July 18. They discovered the patient, who was said to be in his 70s. Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead a short time later. His death was not being treated as suspicious and was referred to the coroner. The Midlands Air Ambulance from Tatenhill was also scrambled and landed nearby.

The Galway GAA community is in mourning after the death of a winning manager and player. Martin (Billy) McGrath, formerly of Oranmore, sadly passed away on Sunday July 17. Billy’s passion was GAA and will be missed by the community both on and off the field. Billy started his career in Oranmore but then moved to Clarinbridge, whose club paid a touching tribute to him. In their tribute, Clarinbridge GAA remembered Billy fondly as he was not only a good player but was also a “remarkable” team manager.

Castille was born in Caen, Normandy. She studied in Italy before working in foreign rights for Dargaud in the mid-1990s. Austrian conductor Stefan Soltész collapsed and died during a performance at the National Theater in Munich on Friday evening. The tragedy happened on Saturday, July 23. During the competition one of the cyclists participating in the ultramarton Lubuska Szosa fainted. Despite giving him immediate help, the man died. The drama took place near Żary, near Tuplice. The Lubuska Szosa cycling ultramarathon started on Saturday, July 23 from Zabór. Its participants had to cover 250 (up to 20 hours) and 500 km (up to 30 hours), and the route led through the cities of Lubuskie. One of the contestants suddenly fainted. Last night, a young man died in a shop in Sofia, the cause of death is still unknown. At the age of 40, the musician and guitarist Kostas Gerakis passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Kostas Gerakis, originally from Amorgos, was known for his personal musical sound. For many years he played rebetiko (guitar, bouzouki, double bass) alongside great bouzouki virtuosos and performers. He had great collaborations with, among others, George Dalaras, Sokratis Malamas, Leonidas Balafas, Matoula Zamanis, while he had a long-term collaboration with Stelios Vamvakaris.

The merchant and athlete from Puntaltense, Luis Ernesto Montero (68), died this Saturday afternoon after suffering a heart attack while riding his bicycle in the town of Villa Arias. The voice actor from Trieste Franco Zucca has died. In a few days he would have turned 70. Silvia Sabato was only 25 years old, she was a student. She was found lifeless in the apartment where she lived in Naples, in the historic center. A 68-year-old woman died after going to the emergency room with severe pain in her chest and left arm. The doctors had discharged her after an hour and a half, following a positive swab: “These are pains caused by Covid, go home” they would have told her. Now the woman’s husband has filed a complaint asking for the body to be exhumed and asks that an investigation be conducted into the real causes of her death.
It was 11 July when Lucia Chiarelli went to the “Dono Svizzero” hospital in Formia (Latina) with severe chest pain that radiated up to her left arm. The 68-year-old was worried about a possible heart attack since she suffered from hypertension. She arrived at the clinic around 8 am, accompanied by her husband, she was subjected to a series of blood tests which revealed “nothing of concern”, according to what was reported. After the exams, the woman was also subjected to a chest X-ray and, as usual, to the swabnasopharyngeal Covid 19, positive result. At that point the doctors discharged her with the diagnosis “positive Covid chest pain”.
At 9.30 Chiarelli returned to her home and her husband went to the pharmacy to take the medicines he had been prescribed. As soon as he returned, the man gave his wife a few drops and immediately afterwards she collapsed to the ground. The alarm was immediately raised to 118, but once help arrived on the scene, they found her already heartbreaking. The resuscitation attempts were useless, at 11.31 her death was ascertained.

The news of the tragic death of Franco Bozzolan, the 54-year-old bank manager of Mogliano Veneto, struck down by a cardiac arrest on Sunday in Val Zoldana, aroused great condolence . Diano Marina – A 47-year-old man, employee of a hotel in Diano Marina (Imperia), the Metropol in via Provvidenza, where he worked as a dishwasher, died this morning in the structure of an illness. It is not excluded that the sultry heat could be the cause of death.

Investigations are underway to ascertain the causes that led to the death of a 35-year-old worker from Montoro, in the province of Avellino. The lifeless body of the worker was found at dawn next to the scooter with which he was going to work. Tragedy in hospital in Treviso: Lisa Mason, a girl of only 22, lost her life on Monday 18 July due to severe respiratory stress. Arriving at the hospital in the night between Sunday and Monday, her condition immediately appeared desperate. As reported by “La Tribuna di Treviso”, the first respiratory problems appeared a few days before hospitalization. Lisa began to find it harder and harder to breathe, until an ambulance was needed. Luigi Tranquillino is the 67-year-old from Milan who died in an accident on the A14 motorway between Ortona and Lanciano (in Abruzzo) on Tuesday 19 July. Tranquillino, former councilor of zone 2 for two legislatures since 2006 with the Communist Refoundation and mostly among the representatives of Sinistra X Pisapia, was driving his Renault Kangoo to reach Puglia with his wife. The accident occurred near the Lanciano exit: the 67-year-old would have been taken ill, he would have lost control of the vehicle crashing into a truck that preceded him and carrying iron sections.
The impact was very violent. The 118 health workers had intervened on the spot but for the former Milanese politician there was nothing to do. His wife, on the other hand, was transferred to the ‘Renzetti’ hospital in Lanciano. The exact dynamics of the accident, however, are being examined by the traffic police of Vasto Sud.

The 63-year-old Dante Capretta died a few hours after the accident from his very serious injuries, who fell along the Colle Izzino provincial road in Bellante. The man, due to causes under investigation by the police at the Campli station, last night around 9 pm was traveling the provincial road on his Ducati motorcycle: he suddenly lost control and it is not excluded that this happened because he was seized by an illness. He was immediately rescued by the 118 health personnel and transported to the Mazzini hospital in Teramo, but the severity of the traumas reported caused his death around 2. He lost control of the scooter he was traveling on, ending up crashing into some garbage bins. Thus, Naifar Hichem, 52 years old, an Italian of Tunisian origin, died instantly. The tragic accident occurred yesterday afternoon, around 2.30 pm, in via di Corticella, near the Hippodrome.

Tragedy tonight around 3 am along the Migliara 47 in Pontina, where a 43-year-old man from Sabaudia lost his life following a road accident. This, in fact, was driving his van when, for reasons still under investigation, he would have lost control. A solo accident, which did not involve other vehicles, and which saw the van go off the road at high speed, and then crash violently into a tree.
Immediate intervention by the 118 health workers, who, however, could not help but ascertain the death of the 43-year-old. The other occupant of the vehicle, who was traveling with the victim, was seriously injured. Immediately rescued, he was transported in code red to the hospital. The 46-year-old from Piacenza did not make it, who on the afternoon of Sunday 24 July ended up in hospital (transported by 118) due to an illness that hit him while he was driving the car. The victim is Enrico Maria Podestà from Piacenza, well known in the city for having managed, even with his brother who still has it, the Wind shop in Piazza Borgo. Before that, he had a shop of company “3” in via Cavour. Lately he had opened a bar with his partner in via Nasalli Rocca.
The incident happened in via Stradiotti in San Lazzaro where the auto-medical and the public assistance ambulance ran. Witnesses told local police that they saw his car skid slowly until it crashed into a planter. When the rescuers arrived at the scene they found him in cardiac arrest and used the defibrillator to resuscitate him. The resuscitation maneuvers then continued with the 118 health workers until the emergency transport to the hospital. Unfortunately, the man’s conditions were desperate and he died shortly after.

An 80-year-old man from Piacenza lost his life in a road accident on the Via Emilia between Sarmato and Castelsangiovanni. Here in the late morning of Friday 22 July, the 118 health workers and the firefighters came. Città di Castello (Perugia) – A 33-year-old man was found dead in his home in the historic center of Città di Castello: investigations are underway by the police on the causes of shift, has placed the body under sequestration for the autopsy that will be performed in the next few days. The young man, originally from and residing in Città di Castello together with his family (well known and well-liked), was found lifeless inside his home in the late evening of Monday 18 July. To sound the alarm some family members who entered the attic where the 33-year-old was lying on the bed, unconscious and immediately called for help.
The doctors from 118 and the agents of the police station of Città di Castello arrived in the house. Unfortunately for the young man there was nothing to do: he was already dead and despite the resuscitation attempts it was not possible to save his life. But what caused the death? The investigations began immediately.
On the boy’s body no signs of violence or trauma emerged that could lead to violent death (the 33-year-old was cleansed and without any type of criminal record behind him). Death from natural causes would have been excluded from a first reconnaissance, but the investigations are covered by the utmost confidentiality.

Drama this morning in the medical department of the Marianna Giannuzzi hospital in Manduria where a doctor on duty, Giovanni Buccoliero, died of a cardiac arrest. The professional fell ill and collapsed without recovering. All attempts to revive him by the health personnel present were useless. Resuscitators also intervened but they too had to give up. The doctor had not yet turned 60.

Manduria – A 63-year-old merchant from Manduria died in the late afternoon yesterday after falling ill while he was at sea near the Campo dei Messapi tourist complex, Borraco area, in the Manduria marina. The man, owner of a haberdashery, was at the sea with his wife and had just finished swimming with a diving mask, when he asked for help as he got out of the water. The victim was first rescued by a doctor on the beach and then by the 118 health workers, but any resuscitation attempt – also thanks to the help of a defibrillator supplied to the beach – was in vain.

Yet another tragedy on the beaches of Messina. An elderly man, 79 years old, died around 12 this morning on the Ponente beach in Milazzo. According to initial information, the man was in the water and suddenly fell ill. Immediate rescue was given to bathers who then alerted 118 and the police. But it was all in vain. Tragedy yesterday afternoon, Sunday 24 July, in Cassano d’Adda, in the Milanese area, where a 48-year-old man died after a dip in the Adda river. Originally from Sri Lanka, he was with some friends on the banks of the waterway. When he decided to dive, he was sucked into the eddies created in the river that pushed him away from the shore and made him sink. His friends were helpless and immediately alerted the rescue.
The 118 health workers sent by the Regional Emergency Emergency Agency of Lombardy and the divers of the police forces rushed to the spot, who recovered it from the waters and brought it to dry land. Like the young Antonio Pala, on Lake Garda, Enrico Bonzio also drowned: but in the lakes of Poncarale. The Fishing Club “Laghi Mella” was his second home, he really lived a few steps away: he never failed to make a leap, at least once a day, like a great fishing enthusiast that he was. This was also the case on Tuesday afternoon, the day of the tragedy.
It seems that Bonzio was busy fishing in one of the lakes, all regular. Until around 6 pm another fisherman noticed something was wrong: he saw the abandoned rod and the equipment on the grass, but no one around. In a few moments and the terrible suspicion became dramatic certainty.
The fire brigade, ambulance and auto-medical, the carabinieri of Verolanuova rushed to the scene for the reliefs. The now lifeless body of Enrico Bonzio was identified a few meters away. Died drowned: he could have tripped and fallen into the water, or taken from an illness, probably also due to the scorching heat of these days.
The body is at the disposal of the judicial authority but the authorization for burial is expected shortly. Bonzio would have turned 79 on Monday: he was all ready for his birthday party. He leaves his wife and two daughters in pain. A well-known face, in the world of fishing, at an Italian and international level: he had been head of the national sport fishing team, for men and women, Italian champion and world champion. He has always been active also in Fipsas, the Italian Federation of sport fishing and underwater activities.

The 36-year-old Antonio Pala is the victim of yet another drowning of this damned season on Lake Garda, already the third on the Brescia side of the Benaco. Originally from Sardinia, he had moved to the lake for a couple of weeks to work in Limone, where he instead met his death: he was an employee of the Gimmy Bar, in the center. From what we learn Tuesday he had the afternoon off, and so he would have decided to spend the day at the lake.
He dived around 5 pm from a jetty along the beach parallel to Via Nova: other swimmers, who then gave the alarm, report that they saw him re-emerge only for a few moments, and then be swallowed again by the waters of Lake Garda. Having received the report in 1530, the operations room of the Coast Guard sent the GC A58 vehicle to the site as well as the diving unit of the Trento Fire Brigade, who arrived by helicopter.
The young bartender now lifeless was identified on a depth of about 6 meters, still near the jetty from which he had dived: he was recovered and then entrusted to the 118 health workers, who also arrived by helicopter. Resuscitation health procedures started, unfortunately in vain. The surveys are entrusted to the Carabinieri of Limone: it is not excluded that it could be a death by hydrocution, or a cardiac arrest or an illness due to thermal shock after a dive in deep water (where the temperature is much lower than the surface).

San Giovanni Valdarno – A 43-year-old man died after diving into a swimming pool in the area, perhaps due to an illness that made him drown. The accident occurred last Sunday, shortly after 2.30 pm, when the victim, of foreign origin, entered the water with his wife and daughter. A few moments later he fell ill. The man, who had dived on the side of the pool where the water is highest, went to the bottom. Immediately rescued by the bays and then by the 118 operators, he was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Siena. Despite the medical attention, however, he died in the past few hours. His wife and daughter also experienced some minor ailments and were rescued by lifeguards. The carabinieri are conducting a series of investigations to shed full light on the causes of death. The elements collected so far confirm that the man would have died by drowning but at the origin of the tragedy there could be a sudden illness.

On the spot – in front of the Conchette locality – the Coast Guard intervened while the civil protection was present on the ground.
