Russia Claims it Shot Down a UFO. And There Appears to Be Video.

It stands to reason with the the UFO/UAP phenomena is that sightings are most common in places where people are prone to look up at the night sky. Pilots of course. Rural areas as opposed to cities, such as the midwestern and southwestern US. Around airports, for instance the “Cookie Cutter” that punched a hole in the clouds over O’Hare or the “Phoenix Lights” Kurt Russell called into the FAA while flying his private plane into Sky Harbor:

And naturally, these areas include places where this is military activity. Installations as well as war zones. And currently there is no more active military in the world than Russia’s, and no more warring war zone than their’s. So it should come as no surprise that Russian soldiers are monitoring the skies. And are claiming they not only spotted a UFO, but took it down:

Newsweek – A mystery object described by one local news outlet as a “UFO” has been shot down in the southern Russian region of Rostov. 

Vasily Golubev, the governor of Rostov oblast, wrote on Telegram that a “small-size object in the shape of a ball” had been discovered flying “in the wind” at an altitude of around one and a half miles on January 3. With the object spotted above the village of Sultan Sala in the region’s Myasnikovsky district, Golubev said “the decision was taken to liquidate it.” …

In reporting his comments, local news outlet Pivyet Rostov carried a headline that said “a UFO in the form of a ball was shot down in the sky.” …

The channel Ostorozhna, Novosti (Caution, News) published a video showing a shining object flying and then exploding in the sky.

“Look, another one has gone,” someone is heard saying in the clip, which was captioned, “another video of the work of Rostov regional air defenses.” A witness told the channel how “there was a very strong explosion” and that “everything in the house shook. We realized that the air defenses were in operation.”

Allow me to take rare personal role of being the UFO skeptic on this one. As the saying goes, the first casualty of war is truth. We can forgive dubious reports in the fog of war. But if the Russians shot something down, it was a UFO only in the literal sense. Meaning it was an object that hadn’t been identified and may have been technically flying. But the idea that it was what we consider to be an actual UFO is utterly preposterous. Beyond belief.

Even with the video, my first reaction to this report is what Matt Hooper says to Chief Brody when fisherman are stringing a shark up on the dock. “The odds that these Bozos caught the exact shark is a hundred to one.” Only in this case, it’s a billion to one.

I’m in no position to compare anyone actually engaged in real combat to an annoying clown as I sit at a desk in my comfy slippers. But the UFOs we know about have relentlessly toyed with the US military’s most sophisticated, cutting edge technological devices like they were a child’s playthings. Computers. Detection systems. Weapons. Even shutting down our nuclear missiles, which have reportedly been powered down in the presence of these things. My son sends me videos of the Russians operating in Ukraine. And based on watching them consistently have their finest equipment blown to bits on the ground and in the sky, the thought an alien craft could get taken down by one of their rockets is like believing the Globetrotters lost to the Washington Generals. 

Besides, all the proof we need that this was no UFO is the fact we’re still here to see the video. If it was real, we’d be particles in a cloud where the solar system’s No. 1 planet used to be. So nice trying to get us all killed, Putin. But the next time you see something you can’t identify, just let it be. Just keep dealing with your own bullshit. Leave dealing with advanced species from far beyond our world to the pros.
