Gwyneth Paltrow Is Getting Backlash for Being ‘Open-Minded’ to This Controversial Politician
Hollywood actress and wellness entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her independent thinking and unconventional lifestyle choices, to put it lightly. However, recent comments about being “open-minded” towards the controversial anti-vax politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr have ignited a wave of backlash.
Kennedy, a potential independent candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, has been at the heart of many controversies due to his anti-vaccine stance and other contentious beliefs. When Paltrow admitted finding Kennedy’s campaign “very interesting,” she sparked a flurry of criticism.

Paltrow, in an interview with the New York Times, stated that she is “open-minded about everybody,” but later walked back on her support for Kennedy after acknowledging his more problematic views.
“It was very interesting to hear his point of view,” she told the publication. “Since then he’s said some things that I think are tricky, let’s put it that way.” The Goop founder’s publicists contacted the reporter after the fact, worried that her political views would become a focus. They insisted that she is more of an “independent thinker,” but that hasn’t stopped the criticisms from flooding social spaces online.

“Oh look – white women continue to be the ABSOLUTE WORST,” wrote one user on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “[She] has never known hardship, discrimination, or inequality in her ENTIRE LIFE. She doesn’t know the danger she flirts w/as ‘interesting.’ Her ignorance is gross.”
“If by interesting, she means she has a morbid curiosity of dangerous men…” wrote another.
This isn’t the first time Paltrow has faced criticism for her seemingly out-of-touch viewpoints. Her wellness company, Goop, has often been the subject of criticism. From promoting extravagant health routines like fasting and bone broth diets to selling eyebrow-raising products such as vagina-scented candles, Paltrow’s brand has not been without its fair share of controversies.
Her previous political backings have also drawn criticism. Last year, she was one of several celebrities called out for supporting billionaire Republican-turned-Democrat Rick Caruso during his run for Los Angeles mayor. After supporting the billionaire real estate developer, she and others like Katy Perry and Chris Pratt were labeled as out-of-touch celebrities protecting their own class.
Earlier this year, Paltrow was also in the news due to a high-profile trial over a skiing accident that occurred in 2016. Throughout the trial, she made headlines for wearing outfits from her Goop clothing line, G. Label, which inadvertently served as free advertising for her brand.
Whether it’s endorsing controversial figures or capitalizing on a high-profile trial to advertise her clothing line, Paltrow’s actions often blur the line between bold individualism and self-serving publicity stunts. As we look to the future, it’s clear that Paltrow’s journey will remain contentious, continuously sparking debate and challenging societal norms. One thing is certain: Paltrow’s narrative is far from mundane.
