Flat Earth

Flat Earth dating sites where believers look for love with no room for ‘globies’

Dating is hard – and it’s even harder if you believe the Earth is flat.

Nearly four in 10 Brits will spend Valentine’s Day alone tomorrow, and with the most romantic day of the year looming, many singletons might be making last-ditch attempts to find love. But with just 3% of the UK believing the Earth is not a globe according to YouGov, the pool of potential conspiracy theorist mates is infinitely smaller.

Lonely Flat Earthers are now turning to apps and Facebook groups in a bid to find the one. Caroline Walter, 55, struggled in the search for romance after she split from Flat Earth household name Mark Sargent in 2018.

She turned to a website called Flat Earth People Finder – now an app – where she met another man who she briefly dated, but it didn’t work out. She doesn’t want to settle for “globies” – the Flat Earther term for someone who believes the world is round. She previously told Wired: “I feel like I’m looking for some kind of a unicorn and I don’t know if I’ll ever find him but I feel like I don’t wanna settle.”

Flat Earth People Finder doesn’t bill itself as a dating app, but is one of the only sources conspiracy theorists can use to find each other. The app opens on a black screen with a blue logo emblazoned with the words ‘The earth is flat & stationary; open your eyes’ before encouraging users to log in.

But if that doesn’t float your boat, there are other options too. The Facebook page FLAT EARTH MATCH and its accompanying group, FLAT EARTH MATCH (FE dating and community network), is the place to go if you’re a lonely conspiracy theorist looking to find a partner.

The private group boasts nearly 3,000 members while the public page – where Flat Earth dating success stories have been posted – has about 1,000 at the time of writing. The public page – which appears to have last been active in 2019 – also sets out guidelines for use of the group.

Founder John Perri writes on the page: “I believe that being an FE (Flat Earther) means more than just flat earth. It is a journey, a discovery and a revealing to what has been hidden.

“It is an epiphany and sudden realisation of all truths interconnected through the rabbit hole. FE is a divine awakening which we all now see.

“Flat earth match is more than just dating. We are a family and growing community of believers uniting together under the banner of truth as we are bonded by the same commonality.”

Members are also requested not to insult “the one true God of the Bible,” who Perri credits with “creating our flat earth.”

“Any disrespect towards the Lord will not be tolerated and will cause you to be removed,” the page continues.
