Pilot submits report on UFO sighting near Pawleys Island

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Did a pilot observe an unidentified flying object off the coast of Pawleys Island?

In a December 14 report to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), a certified flight instructor was conducting a training flight when they saw four to five solid orange lights in a triangle pattern in the evening sky.

The pilot stated the lights were not consistent with standard aircraft lighting, stars, or any normal weather phenomena.

“Unidentified object/aircraft was approximately 3-4 NM offshore, and was only observed briefly before vanishing. No movement of the object was observed. No ADSB data received from the object,” the report stated.

The sighing only lasted five to six seconds and the pilot added that the sky was clear with no clouds at the time.

A student on board was wearing a vision-limiting device which prevented them from seeing outside as a training measure, therefore the student was not able to witness the object.

The National UFO Reporting Center was founded in 1974 by UFO investigator Robert J. Gribble. The center’s primary purpose, according to its website, is to receive, record, corroborate, and document reports from individuals who have been witness to unusual, possibly UFO-related events.
