Persecuted by Lawfare, Hounded by Secret Police, Patriot Parties Resist the Great Reset in Europe – The Stream

This isn’t your father’s “free world.” In fact, it’s far from free, thanks to elites and their suffocating grabs at unaccountable power. The political prisoners of January 6 know that. And so do the citizens of one European country after another, where censorship, legal persecution, and the whole apparatus of totalitarian power are increasingly being aimed at Christians, conservatives, and populists.

But those people are now pushing back. Right-leaning parties are rising despite every possible form of pressure applied by globalists and leftists. The upcoming European Parliament elections promise a significant shift in power, as populist, pro-growth, and pro-family sentiments stir among voters who are sick of being experimented upon.

The Turning Tide

Euroskepticism and antiglobalism, once penned up at the periphery of European politics, are shoving their way into the mainstream. From Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in France to Matteo Salvini’s Lega in Italy, the growing support for antiglobalist leaders in Europe is unmistakable. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen the rise of right and center-right leaders such as Italy’s Giorgia Meloni and Greece’s Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and right-wing parties like Belgium’s Vlaams Belang, Finland’s National Coalition, and Germany’s dynamic (borderline illegal) Alternative für Deutschland (AfD).

In 2023, a ground-breaking election in the Netherlands saw the right-wing People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) emerging as the largest party in Parliament. Dutch right-wing parties including the Party for Freedom (PVV) and the Farmer–Citizen Movement (BBB) did well. Euroskepticism and antiglobalism are fresh in voters’ minds after historic protests by farmers resisting “green” government land grabs.

Captive media and state apparatchiks frame this surge in populism as a rejection of progress. It’s all just ignorant, “reactionary,” even “racist” resistance that retards a more sustainable and equitable future, they say. However, for many Europeans, this elite narrative rings hollow. They see it as a smokescreen for a globalist agenda often referred to as the “Great Reset” – a sinister agenda of top-down social experimentation being forced upon the populace by unelected elites.

Taking Back Their Nations

The increasing power of the European Union, with its complex bureaucracy and secret, undemocratic decision-making, breeds resentment. Citizens feel a loss of control over their own destinies and an erosion of national sovereignty. This of course was on full display, in all its dystopian horror, during the COVID panic, when people were stripped of their personal and social autonomy in ways unimaginable outside the former Eastern Bloc or Nazi-occupied countries. But all the official lies, fascist lockdowns, and economic ruin smothered opposition until recently.

As Europe shed its COVID shackles, the voice of ordinary people began to echo through its streets. The Dutch farmers led the chorus in 2023, a mighty ensemble 10,000 strong, pitching their protest in the heart of The Hague against the suffocating “emission reduction” policies that would have strangled food production. As the year came to a close, farmers began to march all across the continent. Vast tapestries of protest unfurled across Europe’s age-old cities and rolling green fields.

Fighting Green Fascism

The struggle against power-hungry elitists isn’t confined to harried farmers. It extends to European officials, who now find their political futures intertwined with the outcome of this shared challenge against globalist authoritarianism. For instance, Matteo Salvini, an integral member of Italy’s governing right-wing coalition, has shown support for the agricultural demonstrations. “The major part of their demands are against the mad, pseudo-green policies of Europe,” he pointed out. Citing the European Union’s green fascism, Italian Prime Minister Meloni said, “Clearly, Europe’s answers to citizens are not working.”

A prominent figure in the repositioning of Italy as a pivotal hub for natural gas (using EU funding), Meloni’s anti-EU initiatives have been notable. Meloni stands with several European Union leaders who flout the bloc’s crackpot rules restricting the use of fossil fuels. Way up in Finland, the center-right party led by Petteri Orpo achieved a cut in taxes designed to stop CO2 emissions, and held back wasteful and futile “carbon capture” schemes.

Likewise, in Sweden, the newly elected right-wing government has reduced taxes on gas and cut funding for climate initiatives. Norway in 2024 approved 19 new oil and gas projects worth around £14.62 billion. Even in a non-EU member such as Britain, we saw Prime Minister Rishi Sunak postpone electric vehicle transition deadlines and issue hundreds of new oil and gas licenses for the North Sea.

A Surge in the EU Itself

These sane, patriotic parties are forecasted to gain during the upcoming European Parliament elections in June this year. Though they may not capture a majority, this does signal a shift. Speaking to Politico, a senior official of the largest group in European Parliament, the center-right European People’s Party, said:

Even if you have the current majority at the next Parliament I think the dynamics are dramatically altered with respect to all the parliamentary work that needs to be done, but also with the top jobs.

“This time it won’t be easy to dismiss the gains of the far right [sic], the impression is that a new moment is about to start,” said another diplomat.

Facing down the arrogant autocrats imposing globalist diktats, these courageous Europeans are about to achieve the biggest rightward shift in seven decades among European Union’s core members. They might actually block the authoritarian policies pushed by the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, and the World Health Organization. Add to that the likely gains for the politically sane in upcoming national elections, and we have reason to hope for less toxic politics on that continent.
