GOP candidate terminates political director over ‘antisemitic’ and pro-QAnon posts

A Colorado Republican congressional campaign’s political director is out of a job after a history of extreme social media posts were unearthed.

According to Ernest Luning of Colorado Politics, Gabe Evans, who is running for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, fired Jessica Spindle over a series of posts that appear to endorse antisemitic ideology, the QAnon movement and violence against the government.

Per the original report in the Colorado Times Recorder, Spindle “made her most egregious antisemitic post” three months ago while on Evans’ payroll.

“On June 14, Spindle publicly posted the infamous ‘Freedom for Humanity’ mural, which depicts antisemitic stereotypes of Jewish bankers playing Monopoly on the backs of naked figures. Spindle shared the post from a conspiracy account called Anonymous, which included a single ‘Okay’ hand sign emoji, a symbol that has been co-opted by the alt-right to indicate white power, according to the Anti-Defamation League.”

Additionally, when the COVID pandemic first flared up, “Spindle shared another antisemitic cartoon depicting a puppeteer’s hand controlling marionette strings attached to a mask-wearing man.”

Spindle has also backed QAnon, a conspiracy theory movement that believes former President Donald Trump will save America from a secret cabal of Satanist pedophiles that consume children’s flesh, and is notorious for adopting Nazi tropes.

“K since I am on a roll with my last post I would love to know who’s down the Qanon/Pizzagate/fall cabal/WayFair rabbit hole?” she posted in 2020, along with a graphic that read, “ME TRYING TO CONVINCE MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT THE WORLD IS RUN BY SATANIC, PEDOPHILE NUTJOBS AND WE ALL NEED TO JOIN THE GREAT AWAKENING TO SAVE HUMANITY.”

On top of all of that, Spindle has called for murdering former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

In 2020, she posted a link to a blog promoting a false claim that Pelosi had called Social Security recipients a “burden on society,” and wrote: “Someone please shoot her! Our Social Security recipients are Americans that are disabled or worked their whole lives for those benefits. I am pretty sure illegals are the drain in our system. F–k her. I ever meet her I will spit on this b—-.”

And following the 2020 election, she pushed conspiracy theories about the election being stolen, including some with violent “Three Percenters” imagery.

Stephanie Clarke, the founder of Stop Antisemitism Colorado, called it “beyond appalling” that an elected official and high-level political campaign staff member has shared what Clarke called “blatant antisemitic imagery.”

“She added, “and to include the caption ‘the most powerful pic I’ve ever seen,’ is nothing short of outrageously inflammatory, offensive, and dangerous. The ‘Freedom for Humanity’ mural is one of the most notorious examples of modern antisemitic propaganda, perpetuating harmful stereotypes that have fueled hatred and violence against the Jewish people for generations.”

Colorado’s 8th District, which was only recently established as part of congressional reapportionment, is a closely contested area in the northern suburbs of Denver, currently represented by Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo.
