Fact Check: NO EVIDENCE Joe Rogan Said Between October 25 and November 2, 2024, That 'He Will Not Be Voting For Trump After Having Him On The Podcast'

No Reports

Did Joe Rogan say “he will not be voting for Trump after having him on the podcast”? No, that’s not true: Lead Stories reviewed Rogan’s podcasts and public statements in the days after Donald Trump’s appearance. Neither subsequent episodes of Rogan’s podcast, his social media accounts nor credible news reports included any statements by Rogan that he had decided not to vote for Trump based on the podcast conversation with the former president.

The claim appeared in a post on Threads on October 29, 2024. It said:

Joe Rogan says he will not be voting for Trump after having him on the podcast.

This is what the post looked like on Threads at the time of writing:

The post offered no details about the place and time of the supposed statement. It didn’t name a source of information or include links or clips that could have confirmed the claim.

Comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan (archived here) sat down with Trump (archived here) for three hours on October 25, 2024 (archived here). In this episode (around the 50:35 mark), Trump suggested that Rogan is “not a Kamala person” (archived here) and that he should endorse him as tech billionaire Elon Musk had (archived here) earlier in the summer of 2024. To that, the host replied: “Your weave is getting wide … I want to bring it back to tariffs.” Yet, Rogan neither verbally refused to endorse Trump nor said that he wouldn’t vote for him in this election cycle.

In the years leading up to the 2024 election, Rogan demonstrated a wide range of self-reported political preferences. In 2020, Rogan said (archived here) that he would “probably vote” for Bernie Sanders. Later that year, even before the Vermont senator suspended his campaign (archived here), Rogan expressed his preference for Trump over Joe Biden (archived here), but later said that he didn’t vote for either of them (archived here). In 2022, Rogan called Trump “an existential threat to democracy” (archived here) and refused to invite him to his show that year. In early August 2024, he expressed some sympathy for Robert J. Kennedy Jr., then an independent presidential candidate (archived here), but also wrote on X that his words were not “an endorsement” (archived here).

Between October 25 and November 2, 2024, Rogan did not publicly say what the post on Threads attributed to him.

Rogan didn’t write it on X (archived here), or Facebook (archived here) or Instagram (archived here). Lead Stories manually reviewed all three accounts.

Searches for the keywords seen here (archived here), here (archived here) and here (archived here) across Google News only returned results discussing the contents of his interview with Trump — not the purported public announcement about not voting for Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Rogan didn’t say it in the subsequent episodes of his podcast, either.

On October 26, 2024, Rogan said that about Trump answering his questions that “he takes you on a totally different route” (at the 40:03 mark) and described Trump as a “very bizarre combination of an entertainer and businessman” (at the 41:14 mark) and complimented his “ability to just keep going,” adding that the three-time Republican presidential nominee “didn’t pee before the podcast” and “didn’t pee after the podcast” (at the 42:50 mark).

On October 30, 2024, Rogan recalled he had been a Bernie Sanders supporter and that he “never thought” he “would ever vote right-wing” at the 1:58 mark, repeated his previous statements about Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the 22:59 mark and said that he voted for “a couple” of Libertarians at the 1:35:44 mark. Yet that is not the same as stating that he wouldn’t vote for Trump.

Furthermore, on October 31, 2024, Rogan interviewed Trump’s running mate JD Vance — and still said nothing about not voting for the Republican ticket.

During the November 2, 2024, episode featuring Democratic Senator John Fetterman, Rogan didn’t say he will not vote for Trump.

Lead Stories contacted Rogan’s publicist for additional comments but didn’t receive an immediate response.
