Flat Earth

World’s most famous flat-earther travels to Antarctica on a mind-shattering trip

YouTuber Jeran Campanella, one of the internet’s famous flat-earthers, went to the southernmost continent to test his theory. As part of a trip, Campanella dubbed “The Final Experiment,” the online personality went to observe if there was a 24-hour sun. Instead, he witnessed the sun not setting since it was the southern hemisphere’s summer.

“Sometimes you are wrong in life and I thought there was no 24-hour sun. In fact, I was pretty sure of it. And it’s a fact – the sun does circle you in the south,” Campanella told the camera stationed in Antarctica.

Although Campanella did not confess to a change in what he thinks the Earth’s shape is, he did admit to being wrong about the 24-hour sun. “I won’t say the Earth is a perfect sphere. But the sun does exactly what these guys said – it circles the southern continent. So that’s about it,” he said. Campanella’s venture to the Arctic debunked the Flat Earther theory that Antarctica is an ice wall where the sun rises and sets every day, encircles all the other continents and controls the world’s oceans. Three years ago, Will Duffy, a pastor from Colorado, became aware that people still believe the Earth is flat. “After we go to Antarctica, no one has to waste any more time debating the shape of the Earth,” he said in a Facebook post since many flat Earthers claim that Antarctica will show the world the truth about the shape of the Earth.

In the video, Campanella thanked Duffy, one of the trip’s organizers, who funded $35,000 for his expedition. However, some of Campanella’s viewers and die-hard flat-earthers were still not convinced that this discovery meant the Earth was round, and they bashed him for taking the money as part of a cover-up conspiracy.

“I don’t think it falsifies plane [flat] Earth, I don’t think it proves a globe – I think it’s a singular data point,” Austin Witsit, an unconvinced flat-earther, said.

“I realize that I’ll be called a shill for just saying that, and you know what, if you’re a shill for being honest, so be it,” Campanella said in response to those who disagree with his evidence.
