Flat Earth

Flat-Earthers Went to Antarctica to Prove the Earth is Flat—What They Discovered Left Them Speechless

A bizarre expedition to Antarctica, led by a Colorado pastor aiming to settle the age-old debate about the Earth’s shape, has left a group of flat-Earth believers grappling with reality. Dubbed “The Final Experiment”, the mission sought to uncover whether the midnight sun—a phenomenon where the sun remains visible for 24 hours—truly exists on the frozen continent. The result? A dramatic revelation that has shaken the convictions of one prominent flat-Earth advocate.

The Quest to Expose a “Global Conspiracy”

Will Duffy, a pastor and the mastermind behind the expedition, pitched the idea to challenge what he saw as a massive global hoax. According to him and other flat-earthers, the Antarctic Treaty of 1959, which restricts unregulated access to the region, was part of a sinister effort to hide the supposed “truth” about Earth’s flatness. By traveling to the edge of the world, they hoped to prove that the midnight sun does not exist—an outcome that would reinforce their belief in a flat plane rather than a rotating globe.

The group, which included YouTuber Jeran Campanella, raised $32,000 for the journey. Armed with cameras and determination, they set out to witness the Antarctic skies firsthand.

Midnight Sun Illuminates Antarctica—and Beliefs Crumble

What they found, however, was undeniable. The midnight sun not only shone over Antarctica but persisted exactly as scientists and experts had long claimed. Jeran Campanella, a vocal flat-Earth proponent, admitted during a live stream on December 14 that his belief system had taken a serious hit.

I was almost sure there wasn’t a 24-hour sun in Antarctica. I sincerely believed it. But sometimes, you’re wrong,” Campanella confessed. His candid admission stunned viewers as he acknowledged that the azimuthal equidistant map, often used by flat-Earthers, was likely flawed.

Flat-Earthers Refuse to Back Down

Despite this apparent breakthrough, not all flat-Earth advocates are convinced. Some have doubled down on their theories, suggesting that the midnight sun could still occur on a flat plane under the “right conditions.” Others claim to have witnessed “physical demonstrations” that support their perspective and are awaiting more data from the expedition.

Even with Campanella’s concession, the movement remains defiant. One fervent believer suggested that the group’s findings only scratched the surface and called for further investigation into the Antarctic skies.

The Final Experiment’s Unintended Legacy

Though Duffy’s experiment sought to close the debate once and for all, it may have instead deepened the divide among flat-Earth believers. While some wrestle with the implications of the Antarctic sun, others cling to alternative explanations, refusing to let their worldview collapse entirely.

For now, the midnight sun stands as a glaring contradiction to the flat-Earth theory—one that even its most ardent defenders can no longer easily dismiss. Whether this marks the beginning of the end for the movement or simply fuels its evolution remains to be seen.
