Bradley Walsh: ‘I finally know the truth about the Egyptian Pyramids’

Bradley Walsh has admitted he’s come to the truth about the conspiracy theory that aliens built the pyramids after exploring their history for himself as part of a new travel series.

The Chase host, 64, travelled to Egypt for a Sky History programme to discover who built The Great Pyramids of Giza and why, after having a ‘fascination’ for the long time.

He initially set out questioning if extra-terrestrial beings had built the last remaining monument of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but has now come to the realisation that it must have been the ancient Egyptians.

However, he’s still facing some disbelievers who are convinced they were built by aliens or a race that has since died out, and is hoping what he’s experienced will be enough to change their minds.

The actor has always been interested in the tomb structures of Giza since he was a child, as his teacher was the great-niece of Howard Carter, who found Tutankhamun’s tomb.

‘I’ve wanted to do this for such a long time now, since the age of 12,’ he told Metro. ‘I’ve never been to Egypt before and it was an opportunity to be able to go and put right some of the wrongs from misinformation out there on the web.

‘I’ve since had a look and seen what people are saying about the Pyramids online, and they still believe that it’s been built not by the ancient Egyptians but by extra-terrestrials.

‘But these people have never been to Egypt and they’re getting people telling them stuff that they’re handing on, and it’s then third-hand.’

Insisting that he wasn’t a conspiracy theorist about aliens building the Pyramids, the TV star said he brought forward all the theories as a ‘deliberate ploy’ to gather information from various sources.

‘In the beginning, I didn’t think it was necessarily aliens, or I thought it was maybe a race that had been washed out by the Younger Dryas, the great flood,’ he said.

Another theory he pondered was whether the Pyramids were really built for Pharaohs, having struggled while climbing them as part of filming the show.

‘I was very surprised,’ he explained. ‘One of the aspects of the Pyramids that made me think that they were not built for a King or for a Pharaoh or someone of great stature, but by other people for another reason, and the reason that I say that is because unless the ancient Egyptians were very, very tiny people and short in stature, it’s very difficult to get up there.’

He went on: ‘I felt that sometimes the pyramids weren’t best served for a King or a Pharaoh or, in their words, a god.

‘So that was one of the things I had in my mind, initially, that the Pyramids weren’t built by the people serving the King at all, but were built prior to the ancient Egyptians, or by another being, so to speak.’

Having spoken to experts, explored inside the Pyramids and dealt with the facts of its construction, Bradley has completely changed his mind, and is now more convinced than ever about the truth.

‘It truly is at the point where you have to say to everyone, “Look, if you want to know about the Pyramids, don’t read it online, don’t take it as hearsay. Go for yourself”.’

He continued: ‘At last, what I deem now as truth is out, and I can explain to everyone that it was the ancient Egyptians.

‘I’ve still had people say to me [that it’s not the ancient Egyptians] and they’ve never been there,’ he added, recalling conversations with several of his friends and even someone who works on The Chase.

But his own experiences are enough to convince him, and reflecting on the journey he had, he added: ‘It’s something out of this world.’

The Great Pyramid of Giza was built more than 4,600 years ago to house Khufu, a king from Egypt’s 4th dynasty.

The Egyptian Government has previously invited people who do not believe their ancestors built the pyramids to the north-east African country to learn the story of the impressive structures.

In 2020, the then-minister of international co-operation Rania al-Mashat told South African businessman Elon Musk that she is ‘waiting for’ him to visit the pyramids after he wrote on X: ‘Aliens built the pyramids (obviously).’

Ms al-Mashat also said: ‘I follow your work with a lot of admiration. I invite you and Space X to explore the writings about how the pyramids were built and also to check out the tombs of the pyramid builders.

‘Mr Musk, we are waiting for you.’

Tech billionaire Musk, who bought Twitter/X in 2022, later pointed to a ‘sensible summary for how’ the structures were built, which explained that archaeological evidence shows that there were villages made to house workers constructing the pyramids, and went into detail about the human evidence.

Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s Cosmic Code airs on March 18 at 9pm on Sky History.
