Elevating fringe theories, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson questions much of the public health consensus about the coronavirus
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, who had criticized the Hunter Biden inquiry as politicized, conspicuously skipped questioning witnesses at the earlier coronavirus hearing and does not plan to attend Tuesday. Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, who is slated to take the top Republican slot on the panel in January after Johnson’s term as chairman ends, has gone out of his way to project trust for the scientific consensus on the coronavirus, publicly announcing last month that he had signed up for a vaccine trial in part to persuade Americans that it was safe.
