Facebook removes three Irish Covid conspiracy groups | Ireland

Facebook has removed three Irish groups after being notified by The Times that they were spreading misinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines.

The groups — Wake Up Ireland, Ireland Has Woken and Wake Up Dublin — have a combined 3,000 users . They share an administrator, who runs them with other people.

One video posted in Wake Up Ireland falsely claims that hospitals were incentivised to record higher rates of Covid-19 deaths to claim more money from the government. Ireland Has Woken hosted a false claim, debunked by the fact-checking site Politifact, that an Australian politician was able to get a positive result for a coronavirus test by using Coca-Cola.
