Huda Beauty Founder Huda Kattan Blames Israel for 9/11, World Wars, TikTok Removes Video

Huda Beauty Founder Huda Kattan Blames Israel for 9/11, World Wars, TikTok Removes Video

TikTok has removed a video by beauty mogul Huda Kattan after she promoted conspiracy theories accusing Israel of orchestrating major world events, including the September 11 attacks and the wars of the 20th century, reports CNN.

Kattan, founder of the billion-dollar cosmetics brand Huda Beauty, posted the now-deleted video to her 11 million TikTok followers. In it, she falsely claimed Israel was behind World War I, World War II, the 9/11 terror attacks, and Hamas’ October 7 assault on Israel.

“All of the conspiracy theories coming out … that Israel has been behind World War I, World War II, September 11, October 7 — they allowed all of this stuff to happen,” Kattan said in the video. “Is this crazy…Like, I had a feeling — I was like, ‘Are they behind every world war?’ Yes,” she said on camera.

World War I and World War II both happened before Israel was established in 1948.

A TikTok spokesperson told CNN the video was removed for violating the platform’s community guidelines, which prohibit harmful misinformation. “We seek to operate on a shared set of facts and reality,” the company said.

The video sparked immediate backlash online and renewed calls for retailers such as Sephora to stop selling Huda Beauty products. Jewish advocacy groups called Kattan’s remarks antisemitic.

“Huda Kattan built a brand around beauty — but these antisemitic conspiracy theories are nothing short of ugly hate,” said Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt.

The American Jewish Committee accused Kattan of spreading “centuries-old hate” disguised as criticism of Israel.

Kattan has previously faced boycott calls for her pro-Palestinian views amid the Israel-Hamas war. A Change.org petition to remove her products from Sephora gained over 30,000 signatures last year.

Huda Beauty was valued at $1.2 billion in 2017 and reportedly brings in around $200 million annually, according to Forbes.
