Steak ‘N Shake Reveal Major Fries Update After MAHA Inspired Move
Steak ‘n Shake has announced that it has completely eliminated seed oils from its fries.

In a Saturday post on social media, the company said that fries “with even a trace of seed oil” would no longer be served at Steak ‘n Shake restaurants.
“Steak n Shake continues to work with its suppliers every day to improve food quality,” it said in the post.
Below this the company added the “MAHA” acronym, flanked by American flags—a reference to the “Make America Healthy Again” movement championed by Kennedy Jr.
At the time of writing, the post has racked up more than a million views on social media site X since it was initially published.
Newsweek reached out to Steak ‘n Shake via online contact form on Sunday for comment.
The company announced back in January that it was seeking to use “100 percent beef tallow” for cooking its fries.
According to its website, Steak ‘n Shake now uses “100 percent beef tallow” to cook its fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders.
“We have also worked with our manufacturer of fries, at a considerable cost to us, to completely eliminate the vegetable oil formerly used to par-fry the product prior to freezing it and shipping it to us. As a result of these efforts, our Beef Tallow Fries are now completely free of seed oils,” the company says.
“Transitioning away from seed oils is a journey, and we continue to work with our other suppliers to achieve our goal,” it adds.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said in a social media post in October 2024: “Fast Food is a part of American culture. But that doesn’t mean it has to be unhealthy, and that we can’t make better choices.”
Kennedy added: “People who enjoy a burger with fries on a night out aren’t to blame, and Americans should have every right to eat out at a restaurant without being unknowingly poisoned by heavily subsidized seed oils. It’s time to Make Frying Oil Tallow Again.”
What Happens Next
Earlier this month, Steak ‘n Shake announced that each one of its restaurants would be getting “the tallest and biggest American flag that local governments will allow,” adding that it “proudly supports American values and traditions.”
