Gary M. Meese: Reflecting on Kennedy assassination

Editor: Has it really been 62 years since President Kennedy was assassinated? To many Americans, the assassination is but a snippet of history. One thing that will always stick with me is recalling how many girls at my high school were crying like anything. Many Americans believe there was some sort of conspiracy in the assassination. President Kennedy did have some powerful enemies. Russia. Castro in Cuba. The Mafia in this country. But in using logic, if any powerful people were backing Lee Harvey Oswald, you would think they would have provided a car and driver for Oswald to use. Instead he was left to wander the streets of Dallas where he ended up killing a Dallas police officer. The movie “JFK” was a somewhat entertaining motion picture, but it certainly was not a documentary. Many people have speculated about the assassination. For years there was a rumor that LBJ winked at someone as he entered Parkland Hospital. We should all remember that speculation and facts are two different things. Over the years I have read a fair amount about Nov. 22, 1963. I still maintain that Lee Harvey Oswald was the only shooter.
