NASA scrubs 2027 moon landing as wild claims of ancient lunar city emerge

NASA Artemis Moonshot

During a briefing on the Artemis II rocket and its ongoing repairs, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced that the Artemis III mission won’t land on the moon as originally planned in 2027 – giving rise to some conspiracy theories.

NASA said they’re scrapping its 2027 lunar landing plans due to a series of complications affecting this month’s Artemis II spacecraft launch. Artemis II, initially set to blast off on February 8, remains plagued by fueling issues that have pushed back its 10-day lunar orbit journey to April.

Isaacman explained on Friday that Artemis III, previously scheduled to land on the lunar surface next year, will now just orbit the moon. This revelation means NASA is pushing back a possible landing mission to 2028 at the soonest.

The unexpected timeline adjustment comes s as NASA detractors and conspiracy theorists claim the space agency has been delaying moon missions to hide “ancient structures” allegedly found on the moon’s far side.

NASA is still targeting 2026, but it will now be in 2028 for one or possibly two moon landings as part of Artemis IV and V. The initial plan involved the Artemis II mission flying around the Moon, now currently slated for April. A lunar landing attempt with Artemis III was on the schedule for 2026, but now Artemis III will remain closer to Earth. Instead, a crew will travel to low-Earth orbit in 2027 to rehearse docking procedures with a lunar lander.

NASA emphasized that this extra flight wouldn’t delay its return to the Moon – it’s still targeting 2028 for one or possibly two lunar landings as part of what will become Artemis IV and V. Following NASA’s press conference, the competing Elon Musk company SpaceX announced on social media that it shares NASA’s objective.

“SpaceX shares the same goal as NASA of returning to the Moon with a permanent presence as expeditiously and safely as possible. We look forward to working with NASA to fly missions that demonstrate valuable progress towards establishing a permanent, sustainable presence on the lunar surface. Frequent human exploration flights help establish a sustainable presence for humans in space,” SpaceX wrote on X.

DON’T MISS…

The delays of moon landing returns have led some conspiracy theorist authors, scientists, and UFO enthusiasts to make unsubstantiated claims that NASA has concealed previous astronauts’ reports of structures on the far side of the moon that date back potentially “tens of thousands of years,” reports the Daily Mail.

According to previous reports from the Chang’e-4 lander, a robotic spacecraft launched by the Chinese National Space Administration in 2018 – the first spacecraft ever to land on the far side of the moon – scientists were able to gather enough information to precisely map out the composition of the structures that make up the upper 1,000 feet of the moon’s surface.

The data, which were published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets on August 2023, reveal that the structure of the upper 130 feet of the lunar surface are made up of multiple layers of dust, rock debris and soil.

Another report shows that a military whistleblower, US Air Force Sergeant Karl Wolfe, claimed to have viewed pre-Apollo lunar orbiter photographs of a city on the far side of the moon whilst at a government facility in 1965. Wolfe’s assertion was subsequently supported by former CIA psychics and distinguished astronauts, who also maintained that there is something on the lunar surface that NASA officials have been covering up since the moon missions ended in 1972.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the CIA conducted experiments with people who professed they could collect information about far-off objects, events, or individuals, a technique known as “remote viewing.”

Among the most famous remote viewers, Ingo Swann, maintained that during a psychic experience in 1975, he purportedly witnessed towers, structures, and humanoid extraterrestrials working at a secret base on the moon’s far side.

Only last year, writer and geologist Gregg Braden told podcast host Joe Rogan that proof of this ancient metropolis was hidden from the public by the US and Russia during the Cold War. According to the scientist, who has previously written about the possibility of lunar life, astronauts landing on the moon in 2028 will discover archaeological structures marked with languages that humans will understand.”

The evidence suggests they’re from us, from a time in our past, a cycle of civilization where we did great and beautiful things by working together until we destroyed one another through war, and that we’re repeating that cycle,” Braden stated.

In publications such as Deep Truth and Gaia TV’s Missing Links, Braden has previously suggested that humans on the moon came from an Earth civilization lost 50,000 years ago, which developed space-travel technology before destroying itself in an ancient war.
