The Truth Is Coming: Trump Greenlights Massive Release of Secret UFO Files

The federal government has officially begun the process of declassifying long-held records regarding unidentified flying objects and unexplained aerial phenomena (UAP).

Speaking Friday at a Turning Point USA event, President Donald Trump confirmed that his administration is currently reviewing files for public release, following a directive he issued in February.

The move marks a significant shift in government transparency regarding extraterrestrial life and UAPs. Trump noted that he tasked Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and senior intelligence officials with spearheading the declassification of documents that the Pentagon has guarded for decades. During his remarks, the President indicated that the review is moving quickly.

“I’m pleased to report today—I thought I’d save it for this crowd—that this process is well underway, and we’ve found many very interesting documents, I must say, and the first releases will begin very, very soon,” Trump told the audience. While he acknowledged the intense public interest in the subject, he added a personal note on his own perspective: “I know you people, you’re really into that. I don’t know [that] I am.”

This administrative push follows years of mounting pressure from Capitol Hill. In January 2026, Republican Representative Eric Burlison of Missouri called for stronger whistleblower protections and more aggressive oversight of UAP investigations.

Burlison has stated that while he remains interested in the findings, he is waiting to see “tangible proof,” such as physical or biological material, before making a final judgment.

The urgency for disclosure was echoed back in late 2023 when former defense and intelligence officials cautioned that if the government did not manage the release of these records, they risked an “uncontrolled” leak of information. This led to bipartisan support for transparency provisions within the annual defense authorization process.

Public and political curiosity has been fueled by high-profile incidents, such as the December 2020 footage captured by Navy personnel showing a triangular object emerging from the ocean near a U.S. warship.

A subsequent defense review of over 140 similar encounters concluded that the vast majority of cases remain unresolved. With the review process now “well underway,” the first batch of these once-restricted documents is expected to hit the public domain in the near future.
