Astronaut Accounts Surface In Newly Released Pentagon UFO Files

A long-debated mystery has a new batch of breadcrumbs for the public to examine.

The Pentagon began releasing files on UFOs and unidentified anomalous phenomena on Friday, May 8.

The records include NASA spaceflight transcripts, military reports, FBI files, videos, images, and government memos tied to unresolved sightings across decades.

Some of the most striking entries involve Apollo and Gemini astronauts reporting lights, particles, and objects they could not immediately identify.

The files also include grainy images from Apollo 12 and a transcript from Apollo 17, in which astronauts described unidentified objects seen from the Moon in 1972.

Apollo 17 mission pilot Ronald Evans reported seeing “a few very bright particles or fragments or something that goes drifting by as we maneuver,” according to Reuters.

The newly released records also include a 1965 Gemini 7 transcript. Army Times reported that Frank Borman told Mission Control about a “bogey” and a field of “hundreds of little particles” near the spacecraft.

A handwritten note on that record described it as a “UFO Sighting by Borman,” Army Times reported.

The release follows a directive from President Donald Trump to identify and declassify government files related to UAPs, UFOs, alien life, and extraterrestrial life.

The new documents do not prove extraterrestrial contact. The Associated Press noted that a 2024 Pentagon report found no evidence that the US government had confirmed alien technology.

Still, the files add new public details to sightings that have fueled questions for generations.
