Israel’s Health Ministry slams Elon Musk’s ‘fake news’ far-right COVID conspiracy

Israel’s Health Ministry denounced Elon Musk’s affirmation of a conspiracy theory that played down coronavirus morbidity of young people on Twitter from a far-right website.

Zero Hedge, a far-right libertarian blog site, shared an article citing Israeli data that claimed that “zero young healthy individuals died of COVID-19.”

Musk, who owns Twitter, responded to Zero Hedge’s tweet with one word: “Zero…”

Israel’s Health Ministry, however, quickly responded with a tweet saying “Fake news is dangerous,” explaining that the data used by the website was limited and only looked at 7.5 percent of the deaths of Israeli youth.

“We know from clinicians that young healthy people did die from COVID and hopefully data on that will be available on the near future from our HMOs,” the ministry added.

Zero Hedge, which boasts 1.6 million followers on Twitter, has been accused by the U.S. of amplifying Kremlin propaganda.

Most recently, the website shared an AI-generated image of a building on fire near the Pentagon, in what may have been the first example of a forged image sending ripples through the investment markets.
