Time for Kids: Time’s almost up for back to school vaccines

Time is running out for kids to get vaccines before school starts. Our Time for Kids partners SSM Health are encouraging families to take kids in ASAP.

Time is running out for kids to get vaccines before school starts. Our Time for Kids partners SSM Health are encouraging families to take kids in ASAP.
One of the shots kindergarten students are asked to get is a measles booster. The highly contagious disease was eradicated in the U.S. in 2000, but earlier this month doctors near St. Louis diagnosed a new case. The news was tough to hear for a local SSM Health physician.
“It’s just heartbreaking as a pediatrician that science and physicians have worked so hard to keep children and folks in our country healthy and to see that anti-vax movement so to speak has prevented people from being immunized and we’ve lost that heard immunity unfortunately,” said Lindsay Geier, M.D.
