Project MKULTRA was a CIA experiment that sounds more like science fiction than actual historical fact. The goal was to test the limits of behavioral modification through drug use, brainwashing, and other sordid techniques. Worst of all, many of the test subjects who were the focus of the experiments had no idea what they’d signed up for—and in some cases, no idea that they’d signed up at all. The project’s findings were buried by those in power for years until the truth finally came out decades after the experiments began.
