Barr, Again, Refutes Claims of Election Fraud – 9 & 10 News – 9&10 News

U.S. Attorney General William Barr continues to push back against President Trump’s claims of election fraud.

Two days before Barr is set to leave the administration after his resignation, he held a news conference.

On investigating election fraud, he said, “If I thought a special counsel at this stage was the right tool and was appropriate, I, I would do-I would name one. But I haven’t. And I’m not going to.”

This statement echoes what he said in an interview with the Associated Press where Barr said  the Justice Department has not uncovered any evidence of widespread voter fraud during the 2020 presidential election.

Barr said he sees no reason to appoint a counsel to look into the results of this year’s election or to investigate President-elect Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Right now Hunter’s financial dealings are under federal investigation but the president-elect has not been connected.

Barr said, “Before the election, as you know, I designated John Durham as a special counsel because I wanted to provide him and his team with assurance that they’d be able to finish their work. And they’re making good progress now. And I expect they will be able to finish their work…”You know, I’m hoping that the next administration handles that matter responsibly.”
